What happened? Koa can't be one week old already.. Lost in a blur of no sleep, diaper changes, spitting up and constant feeding. Along with trying to appease Malaia, so that she won't get jealous. The last week absolutely flew by. It feels like it was night that I was standing in the hospital by Ang's side, encouraging her to push and waiting with anticipation to see if we were going to have a boy or a girl.
But here we are an entire week later. Ang has already lost 21 pounds. She no longer looks pregnant. In fact she looks great. Koa is steadily filling in. He's no longer a little skinny kid. He's starting to get a tiny double chin. And according to the doctors his little plastic ring from the circumcision should be falling off any day now. Along with the clip that is attached to what remains attached to him from the umbilical cord. He's fully into size one diapers and is progressing exactly as he should in terms of the various stages and colors of baby poops. He's even slowly going longer between feeds at night. Which is allowing mom to catch up on some much needed sleep.
Malaia is even getting accustomed to mommy not being able to drop everything to play with her, or take her outside. She's shown a few different times that she has some jealousy towards the baby. We can't blame her though. It used to be all Malaia all the time. I just believe that we were so itching to have this baby and when it was overdue we were frustrated and unhappy and now we are a happy(remains to be seen) little family of four.
